NORTH CAROLINA Charles States: ”I am inspired by a long dress that flows from the waist of a turning woman; the bird that has taken up residence in my studio; reed growing down by the pond; buildings close to home and far away. Pots speak to me in many ways, their surface texture, proportion and form, visual weight, implied energy, and their interaction with the space they occupy. While function is an important aspect, I also wish to convey something beyond the pots, a whimsical movement, personality and strength.”
